Art is a wonderful way to escape into another world...
As a doctor, much of my professional life has been dedicated to searching recipes for a healthier, happier life...well then came along ARTS AND CRAFTS ...It is kind of obvious ...but it took a while to really get past my own firewall of negativity ...
Nowadays we all agree that MEDITATION can replace (some) medication, so it comes as little surprise that immersing oneself in ART can have exactly the same benefits. You know that feeling of exiting from a long walk or drive, and not recalling the details...it just happened...Where did our mind go? As we lose ourselves in another world, our mind rests as we busy ourselves with something other than negative self-talk. We engage our hidden skills in creating something positive, walk away refreshed and rested, stimulated, excited ...and more...all positive. We BUILD and we RISE ....
I started painting a few years ago ...absolutely useless ...I had just left my job in Gabon (after ten blissful years in nature) and failed an attempt at settling the family in Australia. My life sort of turned on its head for a few years, I had to work away from home and spent long periods separated from my loved ones. I suffered...I really struggled, stressed and lost ...I lost myself in gardening, woodwork, and eventually found painting ...I could paint much-missed beach scenes from Gabon ...I found great pleasure losing myself in my canvases for extended periods...The point is not producing Million Dollar perfect scenes ...it is expressing yourself in your special way...no work is useless, it is what it is...ART is a free space to be enjoyed by all...enter and express yourself...In time you'll learn a host of skills, mixing colours, creating shadows, perspective etc...and you'll travel your own path to where it leads you...this is your world...enjoy expressing yourself...open up your heart and allow the hidden emotions a way out...
ARTS and CRAFTS therapy has a central role in helping people find some emotional stability in this hectic and sometimes cruel world. I plan to establish a WELLNESS CENTRE in the coming years which affords people to access as many of the activities as possible and see which ones appeal to them ....I love pottery, painting, woodwork, gardening, bees, cooking,...making Kombucha, Jamu, ...Barista late art....roasting my own coffee beans, ...writing ....yoga, gym, sports and lately ICE SWIMS...WHM...Life is short, there is no time to waste feeling low, lost, depressed...ARTS and CRAFTS can help rebuild shattered lives...Join me on this journey and BE WELL...you deserve it.
